I did a second round interview with Twitter recently and the two technical questions I was asked are pretty interesting. The first I solved rather quickly but the second took a bit more time (and a hint).

I did a second round interview with Twitter recently and the two technical questions I was asked are pretty interesting. The first I solved rather quickly but the second took a bit more time (and a hint).
Question 1:
Given a binary tree with elements of type int determine if the tree is mirrored.
Below is an example of a mirrored tree:

Really awesome wargame resource. Will definitely be hitting this up when I have time to browse through reverse engineering stuff.
/var/log/me: Card Game →
varlogme:
Here’s an interesting question recently posed by my friend Lee.
Imagine there is a theoretical game:
There are 9 cards, numbered 1-9, lying face up on a table in front of two players. Each player takes turns picking up one card from the table. A player wins if they collect any three cards whose…

Megaupload Down
Today Megaupload was shut down by the U.S. Justice Department on charges of copyright infringement. While pirated materials are often hosted on the site, Megaupload does not condone piracy and always complies with DMCA’s and removes flagged material.
The indictment was returned in Virginia, where Megaupload servers were found to have pirated content.
The scariest part of this is the...

Faith in Humanity
Today when I was getting sushi with a friend I accidentally left my car headlights on. Upon returning I came upon the grave realization that my car’s battery was dead.
Three people went out of their way to help us get the car started, including a dad whose family was meeting people at a restaurant, a dad buying groceries with his daughter, and two teenagers in a pickup.
People are so nice.

mygardenstate replied to your link: DC++ Shuts Down, Citing Legal Liability Concerns
with all due respect, the goddamn Daily Sun has to publish the news. That’s called being honest. Covering up or ignoring something inconvenient, even to most of the people that work at the paper, is borderline undemocratic.
The Daily Sun can publish whatever it wants, but this sort of publicity is what...

Goddammit Daily Sun.
There are some things that do not deserve publicity, not matter how good a news story it would make.
If Cornell students still want the convenience of a file-sharing service in the long run, people need to realize that publicity only attracts attention, which could result in horrible, horrible things.
VC uses jwz's name to sell a con →
Ah VC’s. I used to want to be a VC.
It sounded great when I first heard of the concept. You give money to startups and watch them succeed!
Man was I wrong.
3 Day Startup was the first time I could interact face to face with VC’s. Our startup had an awesome idea, the Facebook developers who came from California loved it, but the VC’s didn’t. Why? No direct profitability....

Dennis Ritchie, creator of C and UNIX, dead at 70
Dennis Ritchie, the R in K&R, has passed away. K&R was the first programming book I ever attempted to read. Imagine a world without C and UNIX. I hope his death will receive the proper media attention it deserves.
Viewing Hidden Files on Mac
Kinda bored, thought I would write up a fun tidbit you OS X users could find handy.
How do you view hidden files on a Mac? A quick Google search comes up with the following terminal command:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
Thats way annoying though. Quick and easy solution? Put the commands in a bash script (each followed by a killall Finder) for a super quick way...

Team Training...
Six hours of taekwondo training today.
That means six hours of pain, sweat and tears. Six hours of getting kicked in the head and kicking people in the face. Almost 4000 calories burned.
And then theres the 72 hours of pain starting tomorrow.
But it feels so good.
As Sab says, theres infinite paths to failure, but only one to victory.
